GarageK brochure
Telling a product story through grit and simplicity
LeadSparK - Mobile App
Context
GarageK is a Motork product designed specifically for independent auto repair shops, a segment that values practicality over polish and doesn’t have time for unnecessary complexity. To support its launch, the team needed a printed brochure that could communicate the product’s value quickly and clearly, without relying on generic marketing language or corporate polish.
Although print and illustration are not my primary focus, I took on the challenge, applying my versatility as a designer to handle both the visual storytelling and layout. The result was a brochure that spoke the language of its audience: simple, bold, and grounded in the gritty atmosphere of workshop life.

Challenge
The goal was to design a piece that stood out, but didn’t slow anyone down. The target audience, independent garage owners and mechanics, weren’t going to sit and read dense marketing content. The brochure needed to be functional, visual, and direct, with a tone that reflected the raw, practical energy of the workshop environment.
Visually, this meant embracing a gritty, minimal style, bold lines, few distractions, and a clear structure that prioritized speed of comprehension. The tone had to feel more like a tool than a flyer.
Design Process
Understanding the Audience
Before designing, I worked closely with the product and sales teams to understand how GarageK would be presented in the field, and what information garage owners actually cared about.
Illustrative Style Definition
I developed a custom illustration style inspired by the grit and texture of workshop life, simple, bold, and expressive, echoing tools, oil stains, and physicality.
Layout and information design
The layout followed a straightforward visual hierarchy: strong headers, concise copy blocks, and illustrations that quickly explained value. Every page was built for clarity and rhythm, minimizing noise.
Print-ready delivery
I managed the final layout and prepared the files for professional printing, ensuring that the brochure would hold up in real-world, hands-on contexts.
Results Achieved
Stronger product narrative for non-digital audiences
The brochure helped sales teams tell GarageK’s story more effectively in on-site visits and trade settings.
High usability in context
The visual simplicity made it easy to scan and refer to.
Positive internal feedback
The project was well received across marketing and product teams, demonstrating how design can adapt to different channels and formats.
Expanded my design scope
This project allowed me to train my skillset of illustration and print production, reinforcing my versatility as a designer.
Lessons Learned
Good design adapts to its context.
In this case, designing for people who work with their hands meant stripping away noise and making every element earn its space. The work reminded me that strong visuals don’t need to be complex, they just need to be appropriate, sharp, and respectful of the audience’s time.
And sometimes, stepping outside digital tools and into print is exactly what keeps your design instincts sharp.
