How I play the design game

Design with heart, not just hands

Design with heart, not just hands

Great design starts with empathy. Put humans first, whether they’re users clicking through your product or teammates building it alongside you.

Color outside the lines

Design doesn’t live in a silo. Step out, team up with marketing, sales, devs, whoever. Magic happens where disciplines collide.

Make constraints your creative fuel

Tight deadlines, tricky tech, or business rules? Don’t sweat ‘em. These are the sparks that ignite your most inventive work.

Kill your darlings (with love)

That pixel-perfect idea you adore? Sometimes it’s the wrong fit. Be brave enough to let it go and chase what truly works.

Design process

01

Understand

Understand the user's perspective and experience. Conduct research and observations to understand their needs, pain points, and motivations. Once having a deeper understanding of the user, move on to synthesising the insights gathered in the discovery stage and reframing the problem I will try to solve.

02

Explore

Generate a range of possible solutions to the defined problem. This may involve brainstorming with the team and AI, sketching out ideas to evaluate a broad range of possibilities.

Create low-fidelity prototypes of the most promising solutions. This could involve creating sketches, wireframes, or mockups to test and refine my ideas.

03

Test

Finally, test prototypes with users to gather feedback and refine the solutions. This may involve conducting user testing, usability testing, or other types of user research to ensure that the solutions meet user needs and expectations.

And then return to users to test it again...

04

Materialise

Creating high-fidelity design of the solution and make any necessary adjustments and produce the necessary documentation before the hand-off with the developing team.

Final check on the developed version to ensure that the solution is materialised and touches the lives of the end users.
